Singh, has been awarded the 2015 Saleem A. Shah Award for Early Career Development in Psychology and Law. The Saleem A. Shah Award is an annual award given by the American Psychology-Law Society and the American Academy of Forensic Psychology for early career contributions to forensic psychology in the areas of practice, research, or public policy.

Dr. Singh is a leading international researcher on general recidivism, sex offender, and violence risk assessment. He received his doctorate in psychiatry from the University of Oxford and has served as Senior Clinical Researcher in Forensic Psychiatry and Psychology for the Swiss Department of Justice as well as a clinical associate at Yale School of Medicine. Currently affiliated with the Department of Psychiatry and the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Singh has published a total of over 40 books, chapters, and peer-reviewed articles in high impact medical, psychiatric, and psychological journals. Having conducted research covering over 50 countries, Dr. Singh has given invited lectures at Harvard, Yale, Columbia, Cornell, Brown, and Dartmouth. He has also been the recipient of numerous awards from professional organizations including the American Institute for the Advancement of Forensic Studies, Royal College of Psychiatrists, European Congress on Violence in Clinical Psychiatry, Society for Research in Child Development, and Society for Research in Adolescence. He was promoted to Full Professor at Molde University College in Norway in 2014.

Dr. Singh founded the Global Institute of Forensic Research in late 2013 as a means of expanding international access to evidence-based best practices in forensic mental health, corrections, and criminal law.
