Veidekke ASA: To extend Stovner senter
(Thomson Reuters ONE) -
Work on building 4,000 m(2) of new shop premises and a complete renovation of
Stovner senter has started. In total, Sektor Gruppen will invest almost NOK 300
million in the project, and has entered into a development contract with
Veidekke Entreprenør valued at NOK 230 million excluding VAT.
"This is a major project that comprises both an extension and a complete
renovation of the current shopping centre. We know that this is something the
local community has wanted and has been anticipating for a long time, and we
have worked hard to realize this project since we took over ownership less than
a year ago," says property manager André Gaden of Sektor Gruppen.
The choice of Veidekke as contractor has been important as Sektor Gruppen now
realizes its ambitions for Stovner senter. The contract is an extension of long
and good partnership between the two companies.
"Veidekke is a very professional and competent developer, and has demonstrated
great understanding of how we want to develop Stovner senter. In addition to
giving the centre a full makeover and creating better interior solutions, we
want to open the centre to the greatest possible degree towards what is to
become Linjeparken. Veidekke has extensive experience in developing shopping
centres, and not least the complexity in carrying out construction work in
parallel with a fully operative centre," Gaden says.
"Stovner senter has existed for 40 years, and is a revered institution among
Norwegian shopping centres. The centre has played a decisive role for the local
community since it opened back in 1975, and we are proud to contribute to the
development of tomorrow's Stovner senter in collaboration with Sektor Gruppen,"
says district manager Hans Olav Sørlie of Veidekke Entreprenør.
"The project will have a strong environmental profile, where the new development
will be certified as 'Very good' according to the BREEAM Nor standard, and the
centre will be operated in compliance with BREEAM In-Use. The strong
environmental profile is a commitment with which we are comfortable. It means
that we have requirements toward locally-sourced materials, lower emissions and
a better indoor climate. Stovner senter will thus be both built and operated in
a sustainable manner," says project manager Alexander Almeland of Sektor
Gruppen.
