HARTING connectors ready to go for US switch cabinets
Making distribution lines pluggable and flexible with industrial connectors

(PresseBox) - HARTING is now offering focused product solutions which conform to UL 508 (508 A, 508 C) for "Industrial Control Equipment". The benefit for the customer: Distribution lines can be made pluggable and flexible with industrial connectors
According to the standard from Underwriters Laboratories (UL), energy inputs and power branches for switch cabinets in the US and Canada have so far mainly been hard wired. Now HARTING offers two alternative possibilities. The first option is the use of a completely pre-assembled cable set, in which the proven Han® connectors are employed. These cable sets are listed in the PVVA section of UL 2237 ? a standard extension to UL 508. The second alterative was opened by UL on HARTING's initiative: The "PVVA2" section of UL 2237 lists "recognized components", which are recognized for use in and on switch cabinets.
After extensive testing, HARTING has become the first connector manufacturer to be able to provide the evidence necessary to include their most frequently used products for switch cabinet applications in Section PVVA2. These include connectors of the series Han® HsB and Han® Q for currents up to 40 A, as well as the series Han E® for currents up to 16 A. In tests of short circuit current rating (SCCR) these HARTING components consistently reached the quasi standard value of 65 kA for industrial applications using conventional safety elements.
