FSC certified receipt paper to be introduced in K-food stores

The paper in thenew receipt rolls is 14% longer than in those currently in use.Customers will benefit from the new FSC certified receipt rolls inmore fluent checkout operation thanks to fewer roll replacementsneeded.K-food stores use nearly 50,000 kilometres of receipt paper in ayear, which equals the distance around the globe. The new FSCcertified receipt paper is significantly lighter than the paper nowused and the rolls have as much as 20% longer paper compared withthose generally sold in the market. The adoption of the new receiptpaper will reduce K-food stores' annual consumption by 75,000 rolls.The CO2 emissions in the production of the lighter receipt paper aresome 5% smaller than in traditional receipt roll production. The newrolls also take less space, which reduces the CO2 emissions relatingto transport by an average of 20%. In addition, the amount oftransportation, stored pallets and packaging waste will significantlydecrease.The FSC certification system is the only forest certification systemsupported by nature conservation organisations worldwide.
