Veidekke ASA: Major contract in Trondheim

Veidekke Entreprenør is to build Moholt 50|50 for the Student Welfare
Organization in Trondheim (SiT). The value of the contract is NOK 451 million
excluding VAT, and is the largest contract Veidekke has won in Trondheim. The
projects comprises five nine-storey student housing blocks with a total of 632
bedsit units. In addition there will be a day care centre for 170 children.
Moholt 50|50 is a participant in the "Cities of the future" partnership between
the Government and Norway's 13 largest cities. Both the student housing blocks
and day care centre will be built as passive houses with geothermal heating as
source of energy and will be built using massive wood, all to reduce CO(2)
emissions. Three of the five blocks and the day care centre will be completed
for the start of the semester in 2016, while the final two will be completed in
November 2016.
Veidekke won the competition to become partner in Moholt 50|50 in September
2014. Since then, the project has developed from 465 bedsit units to the current
632 units. With nine storeys these will be the tallest massive wood buildings
ever erected in Norway. Veidekke Trondheim will build the project in
collaboration with Veidekke Follo/Østfold, which has built the student town in
Ås using the same building system.
