Market Research Report Uncovers Key Insights in Hiring, Recruiting and Scheduling Senior Care Employees

The research, , identified that current provider practices are trailing in the path to improving workforce quality and improving their human capital management strategy is a top organizational priority.
Over 600 participants in long-term care and senior living completed a survey with McKnight's Long-Term Care News. The respondents shared their perspectives, priorities, and areas for improvement in workforce issues and practices. Data gathered from the survey responses revealed:
The three most pressing workforce challenges facing providers are: finding qualified candidates, employee retention and staff satisfaction, and scheduling staff to meet needs.
Respondents need to hire on average seven new employees per community per month. While hiring needs are great, most organizations have a reactive approach to hiring with 50% stating they wait until after an employee leaves to start the hiring process.
When asked to describe their approach to recruiting, hiring and scheduling, 59% of respondents said they were using a mix of modern and outdated practices, and almost one-third have time consuming and disjointed or reactive and old school practices.
Respondents overwhelmingly expressed the need for quality workers in their communities. 44% said their greatest wish is to hire right from the start.
