Reshuffling the pack in the German Lotto market.
Ebay Auction of one of the biggest privately held Lotto and EuroJackpot domain portfolios.
(firmenpresse) - BOCHUM/Germany. Two years ago, the German legislative system opened up the market for playing lotto online. Since then, a rapidly growing number of the 21 million Germans, who play Saturday or Wednesday Lotto, has been using the comfort of filling in their lotto tickets online.
For the equally increasing number of lotto providers, this represents a market opportunity and a threatening risk at the same time. For winning the war for online players the key to success is being found in the maze of the internet. Thus, it is important for lotto providers to rank well on relevant key words in search engines. Using Google AdWords to compensate for bad search engine rankings is a costly solution – providers pay between five and eight Euro per click on their AdWord ad. Assuming that only 5% of all clicks lead to a completed lotto ticket, providers thus pay up to 100 € per new customer. In addition, many potential players avoid AdWords and prefer those links that are on top of Google’s authentic search ranking.
But how do providers manage to obtain a good Google ranking? The criteria behind the Google algorithm are a well-kept secret. However, one criterion certainly is a domain name that contains the searched for key words.
The German online lotto market is increasingly competitive with 18 public lotto providers, more than 10 newcomers (e.g. lotto24, tipp24, einfachlotto, lottoland, lottohelden) and a growing number of new entrants from abroad, who recognize the huge opportunities inherent in the German online lotto market. From Tuesday, 14th of April 2015, onwards the pack in the German lotto market might be reshuffled. One of the biggest privately held domain portfolios will be auctioned on Ebay. Part of the auction will be 21 projected websites (e.g. www.lottoonlinespielen.de, www.lottomittwoch.de) and 62 domains (e.g. lottoanbieter.com; the German equivalent for lotto providers).
Two weeks later, another unique domain opportunity will be auctioned on Ebay. From April 28th 2015 onwards 10 EuroJackpot website projects (e.g. www.EuroJackpotOnline.de, www.EuroJackpot- Zahlen.de) and 15 EuroJackpot domains will be on sale. The EuroJackpot has been launched in 2012 and Germany is one of the biggest market for this trans-European lottery. Statistically, an over- proportionally big number of winners come from Germany.
Which provider will secure these websites as an important competitive asset? Those, who want to keep track of the pursuit of the auction, will find the link published on www.lottoonlinespielen.de two weeks prior to the auction or on any other project website of the portfolio.
