U.S. Small Cap Stocks Advance Over Large Caps in March, According to Russell Indexes
Credit Suisse Chief U.S. Equity Strategist Lori Calvasina Sees Strengthening Case for U.S. Small Caps
(firmenpresse) - SEATTLE, WA -- (Marketwired) -- 03/26/15 -- After getting off to a negative start in January, U.S. small caps as measured by the Russell 2000® Index turned positive in February and, month-to-date as of March 24, have built a lead over U.S. large cap stocks as measured by the Russell 1000® Index. In March the Russell 2000 Index has gained 2.5% relative to a -0.3% loss for the Russell 1000 Index.
"We continue to expect choppy conditions in U.S. equity markets in 2015, and remain neutral on small caps vs. large caps, a more constructive stance than our 2014 underweight on small relative to large. However, within the U.S., the case for large caps continues to deteriorate, while the case for small caps continues to strengthen."
