Tikkurila has launched functional Drytech products whose function is based on
unique, microporous matrix technology. These products offer professionals,
industries and consumers effective solutions to problems with condensation,
mold, noise and asbestos.
The operating principles of the Drytech products are based on the physical
processes occurring in micropores, such as accumulation and evaporation of
water. The microporous structure breaks the surface tension of droplets, thus
allowing water to be absorbed into a large area of porous coating. The coating
will release the absorbed water when the surrounding humidity decreases. From
the functionality point of view it is essential that the premises, where these
products are used, are ventilated and moisture has a chance to evaporate from
the coating.
These products are waterborne and also easy to use, compared to making
structural changes. They meet the requirements of EU Health and Safety
regulations, and they have a long track record in the Nordic countries and in
Germany.
GrafoTherm - anti-condensation coating
The main uses for the anti-condensation coating are un-isolated metal surfaces
with problems caused by condensation or dripping water. The product is suitable
for use indoors and also outdoors on rain-sheltered surfaces. GrafoTherm has
been granted the MED approval which means that it can be used inside ships.
The millions of micropores in GrafoTherm form a multi-layer structure with
excellent moisture absorption capacity. When the surrounding humidity decreases,
the moisture absorbed by the coating evaporates rapidly.
BioRid - coating for mold protection
The BioRid coating is intended for eliminating condensation problems and keeping
surfaces dry. The coating temporarily accumulates condensation water, and when
the surrounding humidity decreases, the moisture from the coating is evaporated
into the air.
This product can be used for unpainted and previously painted interior surfaces,
when there is a need to protect the treated surface against mold. Suitable areas
of use include cellars, parking garages, food industry premises, warehouses,
animal sheds, etc. BioRid products cannot be used for repairing moisture damages
caused by inadequate ventilation or structural problems.
Acoustics - noise-damping coating
The same physical properties, as in the other Drytech products, are utilized for
noise damping. The large surface area of the coating layer in the Acoustics
coating absorbs sound waves, and spreads them into the micropores, which reduces
noise and vibration effectively.
Acoustics forms a coating layer that prevents both condensation and spreading of
flames. Recommended areas of use include steel roofing sheets, metal surfaces in
vehicles and railway cars, ventilation ducts, and metal surfaces in areas with
vibration and noise problems. This product is suitable only for indoor use.
AsbestGuard - coating for encapsulation of asbestos
AsbestGuard is a functional coating for encapsulating and sealing of asbestos in
cases which the asbestos cannot be removed. This product is for indoor use only,
and is intended for surfaces with asbestos cement, asbestos-sprayed concrete
surfaces, acoustic panels, and insulation of ventilation ducts.
