Match Point Partners Adds Joe F. Edwards as Managing Director
Former Astronaut Edwards to Head New Science, Government, Technology Vertical
(firmenpresse) - NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwired) -- 04/08/15 -- Match Point Partners LLC, a leading advisory firm, announced today that Joe F. Edwards has joined the firm as Managing Director to lead its new Science, Technology and Government vertical.
Edwards is uniquely accomplished, having served his country as an astronaut, experimental test pilot and fighter pilot, including during Desert Shield/Desert Storm. Following his active military service, Mr. Edwards held several leadership positions at NASA, managed the operations and development of the International Space Station from Star City, Russia, served as CAPCOM at the Johnson Space Center's Mission Control and managed space shuttle and International Space Station safety for the astronaut office. He also held senior positions with HP, PwC and Accenture, where he developed and managed commercial, U.S. Federal and North American State and Local verticals. Edwards is also founder and CEO of Polaris Technology Solutions, a technology services provider for such clients as the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), United States Air Force, the Department of Veterans Affairs and the United States Navy.
As an astronaut, Mr. Edwards piloted America's last crewmember to the Russian Mir space station and set world records for flying the greatest mass in earth orbit and for piloting the record number of humans in space simultaneously. He was also responsible for flying the orbiter Endeavor in the closest flying maneuvers ever attempted around an orbiting space station in the history of manned space flight.
