(firmenpresse) - TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 04/09/15 -- Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada

Member of Parliament Chungsen Leung, on behalf of Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz, announced today an investment of over $2.1 million to the Canadian Food Exporters Association (CFEA) to help the Canadian food processing industry gain and maintain access to new international markets.

This investment will enable the CFEA to attend international food trade shows, lead outgoing missions in key markets such as Asia, and organize in-store food promotions in the Middle East.

The goal is to increase the number of small to medium-sized food, beverage and ingredient companies that export their products, and in doing so, increase export sales for Canada's agri-food sector.

By helping industry get the tools needed to boost sales in international markets, we are creating opportunities for Canadian farmers and companies to diversify, grow and prosper."

"The Canadian Food Exporters Association leverages the AgriMarketing program to provide export programs to Canadian small to mid-sized food, beverage and ingredient manufacturers to make them more competitive internationally. Our association remains dedicated to opening new markets and the continued support of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada's AgriMarketing program has been vital to our success and is very much appreciated."
