(firmenpresse) - SOUTH BOSTON, VA -- (Marketwired) -- 04/13/15 -- Mid-Atlantic Broadband Communities Corporation (MBC), a successful wholesale fiber-optic open-access network transport provider, announced today that President and CEO Tad Deriso will present at the third annual Dynamic Spectrum Alliance (DSA) Global Summit in Manila, Philippines on May 8, 2015.

The Summit brings together experts with first-hand experience to discuss, debate and demonstrate how dynamic spectrum access technologies can help governments, businesses and communities reduce the cost of wireless bandwidth and deliver affordable broadband access in the busiest cities and most remote regions.

Deriso will be on a panel to discuss innovative Spectrum Use Cases. Jeffrey Yan, Director of Technology Policy for Asia Pacific for Microsoft will be moderating the panel. Other panelists include industry leaders from Facebook, Institute for Infocomm Research, University of Malawi, National Taiwan University, Topcon Positioning Systems and Toyota InfoTechnology Center.

Dynamic spectrum access is extremely welcoming of new and innovative Spectrum Use Cases that also need to make use of limited spectrum resources. These include Smart Cities, the burgeoning Internet of Things (IoT), Machine to Machine (M2M), Vehicle to Vehicle Communications. These new use cases also demand alternative licensing and regulatory models which new dynamic spectrum access approaches would address.

As MBC's CEO, Deriso has been invited to speak globally as a keynote speaker on the importance of open-access fiber networks, the role those networks play in economic development and bridging the digital divide, and how national and regional governing bodies can implement similar models to boost broadband access and enhance economic dividends for rural communities.

"I'm honored to speak at this year's Global Summit and share our experience with creative wireless broadband pilot projects," said Deriso. "This is a unique opportunity for MBC to showcase our broadband efforts in rural Virginia and engage with key leaders within the dynamic spectrum access industry on promoting regulations and partnerships to bridge the digital divide."

Along with executive presentations, the DSA Summit will feature the latest technical advances, regulatory initiatives and strategies for ushering in the next generation of connectivity -- from connecting the next 3-4 billion people to enabling the Internet of Things. New to 2015, the agenda will also include a TV White Space Introduction & Model Rules and Regulations session.

"This is our third year hosting the summit and we are thrilled to have such remarkable representatives from all sectors of the world participating this year," said Prof. H Nwana, Executive Director of the Dynamic Spectrum Alliance. "Building on the success of last year's summit in Ghana, we expect even greater participation this year in the Philippines."

The three-day summit is expected to host about 200 participants, including several communication regulators from around the globe. For more information on the Dynamic Spectrum Alliance Summit, visit .
