Glencairn Museum to Host Variety of Religious Artists at Sacred Arts Festival

(firmenpresse) - PHILADELPHIA, PA -- (Marketwired) -- 04/14/15 -- Spiritual arts take center stage at 's highly anticipated yearly Sacred Arts Festival, Sunday, April 26 from 1 to 5 p.m.
One of the many highlights of the annual will be live music provided by the solo- Les Canards Chantants, Glencairn's resident ensemble for the 2015-2016 season.
Hailed for their "perfectly balanced voices" and their "at times reverent, at times playful" approach, Les Canards Chantants is an international ensemble specializing in the dynamic interpretation of renaissance vocal music. The ensemble will sing spiritually-inspired songs from 14th century Catholic to colonial American during the dismantling ceremony of a .
Each year Glencairn strives to bring back favorite demonstrations like glassblowing, while showcasing something new. This year will include a record-breaking number of demonstrations including blacksmithing, stone carving, mosaic making, manuscript illumination, Icon painting, Gutenberg-style printing press, stained glass painting and workshop, and sacred henna art, where for a token fee women and girls can have a design painted on their hand; men and boys can get free temporary tattoos.

Art created hundreds of years ago will also be on view. The galleries will be open for self-guided tours, an opportunity that only comes twice a year. Visitors may also enjoy café treats for sale by ; watch an orientation video; take a cell phone audio tour; see the current exhibition, and the Bible; shop at the museum store, and of course, take in the view from the tower!
Admission for the festival is $10 adults, $8 seniors and students (including college) with I.D., and free for Glencairn members and children 3 and under.
Glencairn also invites guests to visit during the creation of the Tibetan Buddhist sand mandala, April 22 through April 25, from 1:00 to 4:30 pm daily. Donations welcome.
