The Miami-Dade County Age-Friendly Initiative Selects The Weinbach Group

(firmenpresse) - MIAMI, FL -- (Marketwired) -- 04/15/15 -- The Miami-Dade Age-Friendly Initiative, a joint program led by a number of agencies, including the Alliance for Aging, AARP, Health Foundation of South Florida, Miami-Dade County, United Way of Miami-Dade, and Urban Health Partnerships, announced today it selected The Weinbach Group, a marketing communications firm with special expertise in healthcare-related public relations and advertising, to serve as its communications partner. The Weinbach Group won a competitive bid process as part of the Age-Friendly Initiative's fulfillment of a grant awarded by Grantmakers in Aging and the Pfizer Foundation. The engagement will complete a three-year project and seeks to raise civic and business leaders' appreciation for the issues associated with an aging population, as well as how to address those issues at the local level.

Prior to issuing a request for proposals for a communications consultant, The Age-Friendly Initiative had conducted a series of interviews with high-profile, local business leaders and elected officials. "It's clear we need to work with a marketing communications firm to help us influence the influencers to prioritize age-related issues," said Peter Wood, Vice President of Programs and Community Investments for the Health Foundation of South Florida, one of the lead agencies for the Age-Friendly Initiative. "The Weinbach Group articulated a clear understanding of the situation and, they have demonstrated success reaching similar audiences about issues like ours."

The lead agencies for the Initiative are developing an action plan to help direct local leaders toward building a more age-friendly community, and The Weinbach Group will play an instrumental role in disseminating the contents of the plan. In addition, the firm will work to promote a summit scheduled for May 12th to coincide with the AARP's national conference, which takes place in Miami Beach.

"Already, in the short time we've been working with the team at the Age-Friendly Initiative, we have learned how dramatic and urgent the age-related issues are for Miami-Dade," said Daniel Weinbach, president and CEO of The Weinbach Group. "Interestingly, we've also come to realize that efforts to improve quality of life for older adults will have a positive impact on community residents of all ages. Now, it's up to us to make sure the decision makers in this community also come to understand the problem and prioritize funding and implementing solutions to address it."

The Weinbach Group, now in its 28th year of business, ranks as one of South Florida's top marketing firms and was recently named among the region's Top 100 Small Businesses. The firm provides advertising, public relations, and strategic marketing counsel to companies and organizations of all types. Clients include Jackson Health System, The Renfrew Center for Eating Disorders, Susan G. Komen® South Florida, Susan G. Komen® Miami/Ft. Lauderdale, The Miami Foundation, and Pivot Physical Therapy.
