Modular transfer system for automated assembly
The transfer system by Montech is a modular concept designed for applications in logistics and assembly automation. Customers of the Swiss company specializing in transport technology include renowned automotive industry suppliers.
(firmenpresse) - The transfer system carries workpieces mounted on standardized or on customized workpiece holders. According to the assembly workflow, the workpieces are transferred automatically from one conveyor to the next workstation along the line. “Our customers in the watchmaking and pharmaceutical industries, as well as industrial equipment manufacturers, appreciate the modular concept with few components, as they can implement their automation process gradually and execute subsequent modifications with minimum costs,” says Gianluca Aloisi, Director Sales. Further benefits, according to Aloisi, include short design cycles and high flexibility in terms of construction and delivery deadlines, normally between two and four weeks.
With buffer
The conveyor sections are available in four different widths. For two conveyors running in parallel, only one drive unit is required. The user can also integrate a buffer system.
The workpiece carriers, available in six different widths, are made of high-resistance plastics and have a load capacity up to five kilos. The smallest workpiece carrier is just 35x55 mm large.
Accumulation curves
The curves of the transfer system can handle accumulations, consequently simplifying control and reducing costs. They can also be retrofitted into existing systems. Via a 180-degree curve, workpiece carriers can be transferred from an infeed to an outfeed conveyor, with a minimum turnover time of 1.4 seconds per workpiece holder.
Processing from below and above
Operations through the lower side are possible, and the motor position can be selected. For assembly and processing operations (pressing and screwing), a positioning device on the transfer system offers ±0.05 mm positioning accuracy and high pressure on the workpiece up to 14 N/mm2. The workpiece holder can be positioned without any friction between belt and workpiece holder.
