Allied Electronics Volunteers at Local Boys and Girls Club

(firmenpresse) - FORT WORTH, TX -- (Marketwire) -- 07/29/11 -- A team of employees from participated in a "Day of Caring" by volunteering at the Fort Worth Boys and Girls Club on Friday, July 22. Coordinated through the of Tarrant County, the Day of Caring is designed for companies and organizations to give back to their communities by volunteering individuals' time and skills.

The Fort Worth Boys and Girls Club provides hot meals and a fun, safe place for kids to go after school and during the summer. The non-profit organization also provides tutoring, mentoring, athletics, counseling, eyeglasses, college preparation and many other services that address the whole child. Allied volunteers worked with some 200 youth of all ages, interacting, playing games, and providing a pizza party.

"I am proud of the Boys and Girls club and what it gives to our community," says Dennis Cash, vice president of operations and volunteer. "It was very hot outside last Friday, and I am glad that local kids have a place to go where they can stay busy and have fun in a safe clean environment."

Allied's employee council, responsible for corporate community outreach, suggested the corporate Day of Caring, and chose the Fort Worth Boys and Girls Club. Ten Allied employees volunteered for the event, which was held during business hours from noon to 4 p.m. Volunteering employees were compensated for the time away from their jobs.
