Spectrem Millionaire Investor Confidence Index Rebounds to 5-Month High in May
(firmenpresse) - CHICAGO, IL -- (Marketwired) -- 05/26/15 -- Affluent investors' growing confidence in the economy and their personal financial situations drove a five-point gain in the May Spectrem Millionaire Investor Confidence Index (SMICI®) to 15. The Spectrem Affluent Investor Confidence Index (SAICI®) gained 4 points to 8.
The indices, compiled by Spectrem Group, a market research and consulting firm specializing in the affluent and retirement markets, measure the investment confidence and outlook of the 16MM households in America with more than $500,000 of investable assets (SAICI), and those with $1MM or more (SMICI).
Factors driving shifts in the Index include:
The economy added 223,000 jobs in April, a substantial improvement over the previous month.
The 5.4 percent unemployment rate is the lowest since May 2008.
Claims for unemployment benefits fell to a 15-year low on April 30.
Non-Millionaire confidence in the economy is at a three-month high.
"Despite three consecutive months in which an increasing number of affluent investors indicated they would stay on the sidelines, the May Spectrem indices reflect a growing confidence in the economy and optimism about investors' own financial situations, particularly their household income and household assets," said George Walper, Jr., president of Spectrem Group.
