rScriptor Creates Reports Automatically Spend More Time as a Radiologist and Less Time as a Transcriptionist

(firmenpresse) - WINSTON-SALEM, NC -- (Marketwired) -- 05/26/15 -- Scriptor Software, a firm that develops innovative software to assist physicians in creating high-quality medical reports, announced it has signed a three-year, non-exclusive licensing agreement with vRad (Virtual Radiologic) for its rScriptor, which is a dictation software "plugin" that allows radiologists to automatically create structured reports regardless of their reporting style. vRad interprets over 5 million patient studies annually for its 2,100+ client hospital, health system and radiology group facilities. Scriptor Software worked with vRad's IT and clinical staff to specifically customize and tailor rScriptor for vRad's unique patented telemedicine workflow. As a result, vRad's 350+ radiologists have improved their efficiency in creating approximately 350,000 structured reports per month.

"Automating the creation of structured reports allows our radiologists to maintain 'eyes on the images' so they can focus more of their time on helping referring physicians and adding value," said Benjamin W. Strong, MD (ABR, ABIM), vRad's Chief Medical Officer. "Innovative tools, such as rScriptor, that eliminate non-clinical tasks within the radiology workflow help to advance the practice of radiology. They also positively affect the quality of care radiologists can help deliver to their clinical partners and their patients."

Clinical research* notes important benefits of radiology structured reporting, including how it can help improve: documentation and revenue collection; service to other stakeholders, such as referring clinicians, administrators, and health insurance providers; and the content and clarity when compared to other conventional reports. rScriptor structured reports include Exam, Technique, Comparison, Findings (itemized anatomically or functionally) and Impression sections, which provide a consistent experience for referring physicians that must quickly review reports and provide more patient care. rScriptor can also improve efficiency by reducing report-development times and non-clinical distractions -- inserting text manually into a template report, editing reports for inconsistencies, adding missing information or dictating patient history -- that can take the focus away from diagnostic interpretation.

"rScriptor can take an unstructured and disorganized dictation and reorganize it into a clear, concise structured report -- a task that can save time, increase report quality and help maximize reimbursement," said John Stewart, MD, PhD, Scriptor Software's CEO and a practicing radiologist. "It also checks reports for errors or omissions and include all required information for Medicare, ICD-9 and 10, PQRS, JCAHO and third-party payer billing requirements. This allows radiologists to focus their attention on the findings for each report rather than on the ever-growing reporting requirements of these different organizations. With rScriptor you spend more time as a radiologist and less time as a transcriptionist."

is an innovative software provider whose products assist physicians in creating high-quality medical reports in less time and with less effort than was previously possible with dictation software alone. Its patent-pending dictation software plugin rScriptor is used by radiologists worldwide to create millions of structured radiology reports each year. rScriptor is continually updated to reflect changes in reporting requirements by both government agencies and payers to ensure compliance and maximize reimbursement. All applicable codes (CPT, ICD-10) can be incorporated into reports automatically. Findings in each report are scored for acuity and complexity, allowing for detailed outcomes research and benchmarking. For more information, or to arrange for a free trial, please visit .
