REMINDER/Media Advisory: CUPE sponsors concert in Toronto to mark Canada's first ever Flight Attendant Day on May 31st

(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 05/29/15 -- International Flight Attendant Day will be celebrated for the first time ever in Canada on May 31. To mark this historical event, CUPE's Airline Division, representing more than 10,000 flight attendants in Canada will sponsor a live-music concert in Toronto for flight attendants and guests.
Already celebrated in several countries for many years, International Flight Attendant Day serves to recognize the many important contributions made by flight attendants. Beyond ensuring the well-being of travelers, flight attendants are above all else highly trained in-flight safety professionals. In any number of emergency situations, they are essential to ensure the safety and security of passengers.
Held in the downtown Toronto venue The Opera House, the concert will be featuring Juno-nominated Halifax Band 'In-Flight Safety'. Montreal Singer Lea Sanacore will perform the opening act, singing the original song "Keep You Safe" amongst others. Between the two sets, Toronto standup comedian and flight attendant Amanda Killeen will present an aviation-themed comedy act.
CUPE National President Paul Moist and CUPE Airline Division President Michel Cournoyer will be on hand to celebrate the work of CUPE flight attendants.
Media representatives are welcomed to the concert.
CUPE represents flight attendants employed by Air Canada, Air Transat, Calm Air, Canadian North, CanJet, Cathay Pacific, First Air and Sunwing.
