Facebook Features Hollywood Director Timur Bekmambetov's Start-Up on Messenger
(firmenpresse) - LOS ANGELES, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 06/08/15 -- Today, Timur Bekmambetov's start-up, Too.me, was officially selected by Facebook and now is among the few apps exclusively available through Facebook Messenger. Too.me has created a mobile application based on patent-pending technology, which represents the next step in stickers or "emojis" evolution.
Users send regular messages and Too.me automatically creates animated stickers with sound and voices, which look like real cartoons. Additionally, users can reply to messages by making their characters interact with those in the incoming sticker, thus creating a humorous visualization of their conversation. (See attached demo.)
Timur Bekmambetov, who is well-known for directing "Wanted" with Angelina Jolie and co-producing animated feature "9" with Tim Burton, has become the second Hollywood director, after J.J. Abrams, to enter the mobile application world.
Too.me will initially showcase a mix of 30 free and premium characters and will subsequently announce the roll out of well-known cartoon characters and celebrity stickers.
In the future, Too.me is planning to introduce a software development kit (SDK) to let other messengers animate their current stickers and "emojis" as well as allowing end-users to construct their own avatars. Too.me is currently in conversation with some of the top social messaging companies that want to add animation functionality to their mobile applications.
The Too.me mobile app for Messenger is available immediately for download from iTunes and Google Play.
Too.me, which stands for "cartoon messenger," was founded by Serge Kuzmin, a serial entrepreneur with a computer science degree and an MBA from the University of California, Los Angeles. The company secured angel financing from Hollywood film director, Timur Bekmambetov (Day Watch, Wanted, "9", Unfriended, Ben-Hur), and has received seed funding from Maxfield Capital and private investors. Currently, the firm has three U.S. patent applications, all in animation (including patent-pending "Text messages visualization").
