German Broadcast Services Company Selects Aspera for High-Speed, Cross-National
Media Transfers

ARMONK, N.Y., June 9, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- IBM (NYSE:IBM) today announced
that SES Platform Services, a subsidiary of world-leading satellite operator
SES, has selected high speed file transfer software from Aspera, an IBM company,
to meet increasing demand for fast and reliable playout services to broadcast
networks and to speed the delivery of content to Video On Demand (VOD) platforms
and Over-The-Top (OTT) providers located worldwide.

SES Platform Services operates one of Europe's most modern broadcasting centers.
To meet the steady growth in demand for OTT and VOD, SES needed a solution that
would speed content ingest and reduce delivery times to VOD platforms worldwide.
Aspera enables the company to expedite their end-to-end workflow with high-speed
FASP transfers that transport content from the point of ingest to the
distribution of finalized video files to VOD platforms.

Aspera makes it easy for customers to send in their media files using their own
Aspera Client or the free downloadable Connect web browser plug-in. Once
customers' video files are ingested into the media asset management (MAM)
system, SES provides a variety of services including archiving, file processing,
transcoding with metadata, and other content preparations before playout or
video and metadata delivery. Customers have access to the digital archive, where
they can use the MAM functionality to browse content, edit metadata and perform
frame-accurate editing.

Using Aspera, SES is able to receive several hundred files, amounting to 3
terabytes of data, each day from their customers. Additionally, Aspera completes
approximately 100 outgoing file transfers to VOD platforms in the U.S., Germany
and around the world.

Further extending their Aspera transfer capabilities, SES is currently

implementing Aspera Orchestrator to complement their existing in-house workflow
engine with automated file delivery into SES' facilities. Aspera Orchestrator
will enable precise automated control over all internal and external file
transfer workflows via a single, easy-to-use web design interface and run time
execution engine.

"We are very satisfied with the Aspera solution. Our customers simply upload
content via fast, secure Aspera transfers to our facility. It also gives us a
single entry point for files entering our facility, making it easier to
implement security measures for incoming deliveries," said Sandra Buerger,
senior manager, content management engineering at SES Platform Services.

"For broadcasting companies like SES, Aspera fills a crucial need for high-
performance file transfers that enable fast and reliable upload, delivery and
exchange between SES and their valued customers and video distribution partners.
And because of the widespread adoption of Aspera in the media and entertainment
industry, many of SES' customers and partners already use Aspera for their own
purposes, making the client onboarding process very simple," said Arnd Kohrs,
sales director at Aspera.

Aspera will be demonstrating its complete portfolio of high-speed file transfer,
sharing and exchange software including Aspera Files, a new SaaS offering for
global large data sharing at AngaCom, Cologne, Germany, 9-11 June, Booth 10.1 /
R15.
