Bad breath, medically referred to as halitosis, is a condition that research suggests chronically affects millions of people in the United States alone. Commonly caused by a lack of proper oral hygiene, Dr. Mabry notes that halitosis may also be attributed to diet, periodontal disease, cigarettes and other tobacco products, dry mouth, and various medical conditions. Using an advanced technology known as the Halimeter®, Dr. Styskal explains that each patient's breath is analyzed via a special gas sensor designed to detect specific bacteria in the mouth likely to be the source of bad breath. Based on these results, he says a personalized Fresh Breath Program can be formulated for the individual. While programs vary from person to person, he adds that treatment plans may include nutritional and tobacco counseling, customized instructions for oral hygiene, and a combination of applicable dental products and services.

After graduating from University of Arizona, earned his dental degree from the Marquette University School of Dentistry. He went on to specialize in cosmetic and reconstructive dentistry during his residency in Southern California, after which he returned to Arizona to open his private practice. Dr. Mabry has been recognized as a Top Dentist by Phoenix Magazine, and he maintains active membership in the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and the Arizona Dental Association.
