The most used PV brands in the UK benefit from a high exclusiveness in the installers' portfolios
(PresseBox) - The significance of the UK market continued to grow and with a total volume of 2,3 GW in 2014, the UK overtook Germany as Europe's biggest market in regard to new installations. For 2015, EuPD Research estimates a further growth and an annual installation volume of around 2,8 GW.
The British installers, who participated in the "European PV InstallerMonitor 2014/2015", indicate that they offer a small selection of brands exclusively. Canadian Solar, SolarWorld and Sharp are some of the brands, which benefit from being offered exclusively. Wholesalers in the UK still benefit from a lucrative business, as only a minority of the surveyed installers purchase directly from the manufacturers. Canadian Solar is the brand most chosen by British installers. This is significant as the installers mention, that end customers rarely request a specific brand and thus trust the installers' recommendation. Furthermore, only a small amount of British installers already offer energy storage solutions to their customers; however, nearly one half are planning to include the new technology in their portfolio in 2015.
These are some of the many results of EuPD Research's annual monitoring of installers. Over 750 companies in Europe were surveyed and questioned about their procurement behavior, product portfolio, satisfaction with and recommendation of brands, as well as energy storage solutions.
