A veneer is typically used to change the color or shape of the tooth. These patients may be better suited for a crown to address their aesthetic concerns. In addition, teeth that have undergone large restorations may also benefit from a crown rather than a veneer.
Aside from questions about the restorations themselves, Dr. Strub notes that patients often wonder about the cost of porcelain veneers versus crowns, which according to the , are very similar. He says factors including the number of veneers or crowns, the location of the affected teeth, and the degree of difficulty all impact the final price.
