Demand for 49ers Tickets Drops Nearly 30% From 2014

(firmenpresse) - SOUTH WINDSOR, CT -- (Marketwired) -- 07/29/15 -- Demand for San Francisco 49ers tickets has dropped significantly, on the heels of an 8-8 season that saw the end of the Jim Harbaugh era. According to , ticket prices for the 49ers have decreased 28% compared to the 2014 season.
After a mediocre 2014 season and Harbaugh's departure, 49ers fans have watched their favorite team go through a turbulent offseason. 24-year-old linebacker Chris Borland retired, along with 25-year-old offensive lineman Anthony Davis. Both young players retired early in order to protect their brains from concussions. Longtime defensive stalwart Patrick Willis also retired following an injury plagued 2014 season.
Despite the turbulent offseason, the Niners should still contend in the ultra-competitive NFC West -- and the 49ers still have the talent to make a playoff run. While demand for tickets may indicate that fans aren't as excited for the Niners this season, there are other factors that contribute to the decrease in ticket demand.
"Other factors can also explain the discrepancy in ticket demand between 2014 and 2015," JP Starkey, Sports Specialist, TicketNetwork.com, said. "The Niners opened Levi's Stadium last season, and fans flocked to it -- which happens every time a new stadium opens. 2015 appears to provide fans with a much more affordable chance to watch the Niners at home, now that the stadium is in its second year."
49ers fans are most looking forward to the team's Oct. 4 tilt against the Green Bay Packers, which is San Francisco's most in-demand home game this season. Fans have paid an average of $239 for a ticket to watch as Colin Kaepernick squares off against reigning league MVP Aaron Rodgers and the Packers.
San Francisco's Oct. 22 home game against the reigning NFC Champion Seattle Seahawks is the second-most popular game at Levi's Stadium this season. Fans have paid an average of $228 to watch the two NFC West rivals collide.
