(firmenpresse) - KIRKLAND, WA -- (Marketwired) -- 08/05/15 -- , an innovator of enterprise fiber optic networking systems, announces today that the (JPIX), one of the largest Internet Exchanges in Japan, has selected XKL's DQM10-12 Optical Transport Systems to increase network capacity in Tokyo. The DarkStar DQM10-12 packs 120G of capacity into a single 1RU appliance, with 240G and 360G 1RU products scheduled to come out later this year. The new DarkStar system adds capacity to JPIX's existing network, also provided by XKL, and offers a native 40GE client interface.

"We had a pretty good idea that this was the solution for JPIX after our first demonstration," states Takejiro Takabayashi, Chief Engineer of JPIX. "We deployed XKL's DarkStar solution many years ago and have been thrilled with the performance, manageability and scalability. The new DQM10-12 network appliance takes our network capacity and boosts it to meet existing demand, and demand for many years to come. What's more, the DarkStar management interface for the DQM10-12 is identical to the existing XKL products we have so there was no learning curve."

With a diverse network and over 100 global customers including cable operators, Internet Service Providers and content providers, JPIX serves as a strategic neutral exchange point for Internet traffic in Japan. "Due to our large base of service providers and high volume of traffic across our Exchange points, we require systems that not only provide added stability, but also offer us ways to expand in the future," adds Takabayashi.

"XKL provides an easy-to-manage solution with scalability," states Chad Lamb, Director of Engineering at XKL. "JPIX purchased one of the first of the DQM10 product line and will be among the first organizations to employ the new systems. This level of scalability is critical to the JPIX business and meeting increasing bandwidth demand."

JPIX is at the heart of Japan's Internet backbone and continues to contribute to the growth of the Internet in the country by improving service quality with state-of-the-art technologies and expansion across multiple data centers in Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka.
