TEKA presents new extraction unit for welding shops working with large components

(firmenpresse) - How can welders be protected against hazardous particles in the air when working with large components at frequently changing workplaces? Extraction and filter units that capture the polluted air precisely and filter it are the solution. But conventional units are often unhandy and not powerful enough. The new "varioCube" is different.

With the unit from the "FILTERCUBE" series TEKA presents an extraction and filter unit which has been specifically designed for operation in welding shops working with large components such as steel construction plants or shipyards. It combines compact dimensions and a robust design with the highest level of flexibility and user-friendliness.
The casing (about 0.80 m wide, 1.2 m deep x 2.9 m high) is made of 5 mm thick sheet steel and does not need more floor space than a euro-pallet. No component projects beyond the floor space. The unit has six stable flaps with openings. The extraction hoses fitted there can take in the polluted air via distributors at up to 12 workplaces at the same time. They capture the emissions precisely at the point of origin. The mid vacuum system with a high-performance turbine generates a compression of up to 10,000 Pa and is able to capture the polluted air with hoses with nominal diameters between 100 mm and 50 mm. The negative pressure stays constant even when using long extraction hoses and the extraction capacity stays high.

The hoses measuring up to 40 metres in length offer users a maximal freedom of movement when processing large components. They fit even through small openings and can be led far into the hull of a ship. There is a magnetic base at the extractor cowl which is easy to attach and to detach. The filter cartridges of the dust category M separate even fine dusts to a degree exceeding 99.9 %. The purified air can be led back into the hall instead of being led outside. An integrated pre-separator increases the filter life and minimises the risk of fire. The filter control and the star-delta switch are located in separate casings. The Siemens filter control S7 is additionally equipped with an external control unit which is easy to operate and available as an option.

With the help of the timer programming users can determine when the unit shall automatically switch on and off. A sensor monitors the degree of pollution of the filters. When these are full they can be automatically cleaned with compressed air. The filling level of the dust in the collection container is also controlled. A phase inverter ensures that the direction of rotation of the fan changes automatically if required.

The extraction unit is delivered in a plug-and-play manner. No time-consuming installation and setting-up are needed. Lifting rings and openings for the fork lift allow an easy and quick transport of the unit from one construction site to another.
A unit of the FILTERCUBE series can be seen at the TEKA stand 6106 in hall 6 at the Blechexpo in Stuttgart.
