Veidekke ASA: Contract for the Munch Museum
(Thomson Reuters ONE) -
Veidekke Entreprenør has been awarded the contract by the City of Oslo c/o
Kultur- og Idrettsbygg Oslo KF to carry out the civil engineering work for the
new Munch Museum at Bjørvika in Oslo. The value of the contract is NOK 215
million excluding VAT.
The Munch Museum's collections are among Norway's most important contributions
to the world's cultural heritage, and carry with them obligations and
opportunities. A modern and future-oriented museum at Bjørvika will enable the
collections to reach a wide audience and new groups of users, and will reinforce
Oslo's reputation as an international arts city.
"We are very happy to bring a large player to a complex project with great
national and international interest. It is important to us to have a good
partner/contractual party," said Director Eli Grimsby of Kultur- og idrettsbygg
at the signing of the contract on Monday.
"We are grateful for the confidence placed in us. This is a very exciting and
challenging project, and we are thrilled to have won the contract. Both Veidekke
and Kultur- og idrettsbygg have extremely competent teams working on the
project, and that's important in order to succeed together," said EVP Dag
Andresen of Veidekke Entreprenør when the contract was signed.
The new Munch Museum will be located at the far end of the Paulsenkaia quay in
Bjørvika and will neighbour the Opera, which Veidekke also built. Work will
begin in September and will be concluded in the summer of 2016.
