Kesko's sales in August 2010

KESKO CORPORATION STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE 14.09.2010 AT 09.00 1(2)
The Kesko Group's sales, excluding VAT, totalled ?767.5 million in August 2010,
showing an increase of 6.8%.
In the food trade, sales in August were ?336.0 million, an increase of 2.9%. The
sales to K-food store chains were up by 3.8%.
In the home and speciality goods trade, sales in August were ?131.9 million, an
increase of 1.1%. The sales of K-citymarket's home and speciality goods and the
sales of Intersport developed best.
In the building and home improvement trade, sales in August were ?239.7 million,
an increase of 15.5%. Sales in Finland were up by 14.5%. Sales abroad increased
by 16.3% in terms of euros and by 8.6% in terms of local currencies. In Russia,
sales increased by 34.6% in terms of euros and by 17.3% in terms of the local
currency. In the Baltic countries, sales were down by 1.0%.
In the car and machinery trade, sales in August were ?72.2 million, an increase
of 8.0%. VV-Auto's sales in August were ?49.6 million, up 30.7%. In Finland, new
registrations of passenger cars increased by 40.5% in August. Konekesko's sales
in August were ?22.6 million, down 22.0%. The sales performance was lowered by
Konekesko's discontinuation of its agricultural supplies trade in the Baltic
countries.

Change, % indicates the change over the corresponding period of the previous
year.
In August 2010, the number of selling days in Kesko's wholesale in Finland was
22, which is one more than in August 2009. The total number of wholesale selling
days in January-August was one more than in the previous year. The number of
retail selling days in August was 31, which is the same as in the previous year.
The total number of retail selling days in January-August was sixteen more than
in the previous year.
The sales from operations in Finland presented in this release include the
export sales of the companies in Finland (previously exports were included in
the sales of other countries). The comparative figures have been restated to
reflect the change in presentation.
Kesko publishes advance information about the K-Group's retail sales quarterly,
in connection with the interim reports.
