Evident.io Brings on Former Security Journalist to Increase Community Engagement in Cloud Security

Freed brings extensive experience as a well-respected communications advisor, publications manager and freelance writer in the field of security.
In his new role at Evident.io, Freed will spearhead corporate brand awareness for the rapidly growing cloud IT security company through expanded community engagement efforts, and will further align strategies for media and analyst relations.
Evident.io was founded by Tim Prendergast, CEO and Justin Lundy, CIO/CTO, who previously worked together at Adobe and launched Evident.io to deliver security and compliance solutions to meet the new challenges of public cloud-based IT infrastructure. Industry analysts have described Evident.io as having a significant head start in the cloud security space, and being positioned for significant growth. The company currently has about 50 employees and has raised $11.4 million in funding from True Ventures and Bain Capital Ventures.

Before joining Evident.io, Freed was the Director of Publications for Norse Corporation and the managing editor of their online magazine, . Prior to that, he was the managing editor for Tripwire's , and was one of the founders of Infosec Island (later acquired by SecurityWeek). As an information security journalist and editor, Freed has authored numerous feature articles that have been sourced and cited by dozens of security industry and mainstream media outlets -- most notably the breaking of the Norton AV source code leak and his early interviews with hacktivist The Jester.
