New RESNET(R) National Registry Makes Finding Energy Efficient Homes Easier
(firmenpresse) - OCEANSIDE, CALIFORNIA -- (Marketwired) -- 11/12/15 -- In a move that's sure to effect the way Americans buy homes, on October 23 the Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET) launched their new National Registry, which is an online tool that allows visitors to look up HERS-rated energy efficient homes anywhere in the United States.
The first search feature of its kind, the is an extensive database that informs users if a home has been HERS-rated for energy efficiency, and if yes, what its resulting HERS Index Score is. Homebuyers simply need to enter the street address (including city, state and zip code) of the home they want to buy to learn whether it has a HERS Index Score. To date, over 1.5 million American homes have been HERS-rated for energy efficiency.
Created by RESNET, the Home Energy Rating System (HERS®) is the nationally recognized system for inspecting, testing and labeling a home's energy performance. It is the industry standard by which a home's energy efficiency is measured. Every time a home is HERS-rated for energy efficiency, it is assigned a as a numerical value of its energy performance. The lower the score, the more energy efficient the home. The HERS Index Score has been likened to a kind of miles-per-gallon (MPG) sticker for homes.
A HERS Index Score is the result of a HERS energy rating, which is an in-depth analysis of a home's energy efficiency. An independent and will examine the home and carry out a range of tests to determine its energy performance.
