W2E increases the power efficiency of their turbine technology and launch the project DynAWind together with the cooperation partner the University of

Assisted by academic research the on-going engineering of lightweight-optimized structures for wind turbines will be advanced together with the project partner Lehrstuhl für Technische Mechanik/Dynamik of the University Rostock.
The project partners analyze the dynamic behavior of the turbines with a compehensive measuring campaign done at prototypes of 3 MW turbines and 2 MW turbines.
Besides the experimental analyses of the real dynamic behavior during different load cases at the prototype turbine, theoretical calculations with flexible multi-body models are done on the computer. In that case specific load cases can be simulated in different operation modes.
Parameters, defined by guidelines, should be verified on the bases of measurement-series carried out at real turbines. Thus theoretical model assumptions can be compared with the behavior at real operating conditions and calculation models can be optimized.
Increasing the power efficiency takes center for W2E. This includes increasing the availability and reliability. Also the power-related overall weight and the primary specific power generation costs shall be reduced.
The project is supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy on the basis of a decision by the German Bundestag.
