Team Race Performance together with partner MOMO-Megatron currently dominates the Asian Le Mans Series. After a convincing victory at the season opener in Fuji and a further podium success in Sepang the squad around Michel Frey wants to continue with the string of success also at the third round of the endurance series in Thailand. In the remaining two rounds the Briton Oliver Webb will take a seat at the wheel of the teams Oreca 03 R Judd alongside Niki Leutwiler.
“We are really happy that with Oliver Webb one of the currently best LMP2 drivers signed with the team for the remaining two races of the Asian Le Mans Series”, explains Michel Frey. “First of all he will support us to reach our goal to win the series and further more he is a real benchmark for the teams regular driver Niki Leutwiler. I am really convinced that Nicki will take advantage of the cooperation as well. This is of great importance for the next season in the European Le Mans Series. We have experienced, that the competition in the races for the LMP2 is really close, all teams are able to clinch victories. So it's even more important for the team and the drivers to have a perfect preparation in all technical as well as mental matters.”
Oliver Webb won the 2014 European Le Mans Series. Despite he is only 24-year-old he looks back already on a quite successful career in motorsports. Webb started his career with karting when he was nine years old. After that he changed into the single seaters, celebrating a number of successes in the formula classes. In 2014 he changed into endurance racing being successful right away. Now the youngster from Great Britain will compete in the last two races of the Asian Le Mans Series in Thailand and Malaysia for the team Race Performance alongside Niki Leutwiler.
The penultimate round of the Asian endurance championship takes place at the 4.554 kilometres long and quick Buriram International Circuit. Team Race Performance travels with already two victories in the baggage to Thailand. “Our goal is to claim another podium in Buriram”, says team manager Michel Frey. “With a perfectly prepared car and the strong driver line up we should be able to fight at the top again.” The race starts on January 10th in 2016 and goes over the usual distance of three hours.
