From Stuttgart to the world: Start-up Glarify looks to conquer the art scene

(firmenpresse) - Whether they're new in town or born and bred in the city, art lovers in Stuttgart who are looking for their nearest interesting reception or exhibition need good information. Anyone without a subscription to a city magazine or good contacts in the art world risks missing out on some exciting art events. Luckily, Felix Haas is here to make it easier for people to dive into their local art scene. Haas is a concept artist and an expert for matte paintings. He's lived in Mannheim, London and Frankfurt, and cooperated in Hollywood productions such as "Oblivion" as well as series like "Game of Thrones" and "Marco Polo". Every time he moved, Haas asked himself: What's the local art scene like here? This simple question led, after months of work, to Glarify. Glarify is a platform that allows artists to present their work, galleries to find new, up-and-coming artists, and art fans to discover new locations where art is on display.
Described by some as "Facebook for art", the platform boasts all the functions that digital natives know and love. Users can register, set up a profile and follow other people. Artists can also upload their artworks, which other users can 'like'. The focal point of the home page is the map. The points of light, called Glares, indicate the artists, galleries and exhibitions that can be found in the local area. The brighter a Glare shines, the higher the number of users that find this location interesting. Locations can be anything, from artists, studios and galleries to museums and art installations.
Haas hopes that Glarify will one day cover the entire art scene. The embryonic project is currently focused on Stuttgart in south-west Germany, Haas' current home. Later, the site will cover artists and art hotspots from all over Germany and Europe. And one day, he hopes, the entire international art scene. With Glarify, Haas wants to reach both the art world's digital natives and people who until now have only found out about an interesting reception or exhibition once it's too late. An app is also currently in progress.
Anyone who wants to find out more and become part of the online art scene should visit the Glarify website: www.glarify.com
