Death of a CBSA Detainee

On March 13, 2016, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) was notified by the Ontario Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services that an individual under CBSA immigration detention at the Maplehurst Correctional Complex had passed away.

Family of the deceased has been notified. The individual's identity will not be released at this time.

The CBSA will be reviewing the circumstances of the death. The CBSA is not in a position to release further information while the investigation is ongoing.
