New order for diesel piston modules worth more than?30 million

ID: 459110

(PresseBox) - Auto-component supplier KSPG AG, a member of the Rheinmetall Group, has, through its KS Kolbenschmidt GmbH subsidiary, booked a new order for piston modules with a lifetime volume worth around ?32.5 million. The contract was awarded by a major American auto manufacturer who will install the modules into three-cylinder diesel engines built at its European plants. As from 2019, the pistons will be manufactured at KS Kolbenschmidt's Czech plant in Ústí nad Labem.
The pistons will be delivered complete with assembled rings and pins. The contract once again emphasizes KS Kolbenschmidt's piston-module competence. The pistons with ring carrier and coolant passage will have a Nanofriks coating whose nanoparticles ensure extra wear resistance and very low friction, thus efficiently addressing growing demands for less fuel consumption and reduced emissions.

KSPG (Kolbenschmidt Pierburg), which represents the Mobility sector within Germany's Rheinmetall Group, has annual sales of around ?2.6 billion (2015) and ranks among the 100 biggest auto-industry suppliers worldwide. Some 11,000 employees at around 40 production plants in Europe, the Americas, Japan, India and China develop and manufacture components, modules and assemblies for the drive systems of present and future vehicles.
This first-tier supplier, present on the international automotive markets, consists of three divisions: Hardparts, Mechatronics, and Aftermarket. Clustered under the Kolbenschmidt brand is the business of KSPG's Hardparts division comprising car and commercial vehicle pistons, large-bore pistons, engine blocks, cylinder heads, and structural parts in aluminum. Also included are other castings, plain bearings and continuous castings.
Under the Pierburg brand, KSPG's Mechatronics division specializes in modules and assemblies for emission control, solenoid valves, actuators and valve train systems, oil, water and vacuum pumps for cars, trucks and offroad vehicles.

Last but not least, the Aftermarket division under the Motorservice brand embraces the global aftermarket business in the Group's and third-party products in over 130 countries. As a foremost supplier of engine components Motorservice offers its customers from a single source an extensive lineup of engine parts.
