Swiss watch manufacture Zeitwinkel celebrates success of its new model 273° saphir fumé
Just a few weeks after introducing its new model 273° saphir fumé, the hand-made watch is a sales success for Swiss watch manufacturer Zeitwinkel. Thanks to a dial made from transparent sapphire glass, its owners are likewise able to admire the elaborately decorated front side of the elegant automatic movement caliber ZW0103.

Initially proposed by Zeitwinkel customers from Japan, the new model 273° saphir is an instant success with watch enthusiasts worldwide. Zeitwinkel’s founder Peter Nikolaus: “We are currently trying to fulfill all orders for the new sapphire crystal model as quickly as possible. Our traditional manufacturing methods and attention to detail are highly valued by our customers who have started to send us wonderful photos of their 273° saphir fumé from around the world.”
The sapphire crystal dial of the new model is manufactured in nearly twenty steps. Complex technical processes are used to bring out the decorative elements, including unique methods of engraving, polishing, varnish application and coating processes. The end result is a harmoniously tinted “smoked” dial with fine sculptural details and an interesting interplay of light and shadows when the watch is moved. While one of the first happy owners immediately praised his 273° saphir fumé a “piece of art”, Zeitwinkel’s watchmakers also get very positive feedback about the excellent readability and the great functionality of this exquisite piece.
The Zeitwinkel 273° saphir fumé is available from selected Zeitwinkel concessionaires in Japan and around the world as well as through direct contact with the manufacturer. The watches with transparent dials can also be ordered with casings made from Fairmined gold. Zeitwinkel pioneered the use of gold from ecologically and socially responsible mining in the watch industry.
