Outotec awarded a sulfuric acid technology contract from Intecsa Industrial,
Spain
Outotec has agreed with the Spanish engineering company Intecsa Industrial, part
of ACS Group, on the design and delivery of process technology and proprietary
equipment for two sulfuric acid plants to be built in connection with the El
Nasr Co. for Intermediate Chemicals (NCIC) fertilizer plant in Egypt. The order
is valued at over EUR 30 million and has been booked in Outotec's 2016 second
quarter order intake.
The two new sulfuric acid plants designed by Outotec, each with a capacity of
1,900 tonnes per day, will produce high grade sulfuric acid from elemental
sulfur for fertilizer production and steam for energy generation. The plants
will meet all the current and planned Egyptian environmental requirements. In
order to recover as much energy as possible, the heat recovery system uses the
surplus heat of the waste heat boiler and absorption section and turns it into
low- and high-pressure steam.
The sulfuric acid plants are expected to be operational in 2018.
