Fatal accident at Valmet's project site in Sweden

On Thursday, June 2, 2016 a serious workplace accident occurred in Valmet's
installation activities in the pulp mill expansion project at Södra Cell's Värö
mill in Sweden. An employee of Valmet's subcontractor was seriously injured in a
lifting operation and later died in hospital whilst receiving treatment for
injuries sustained during the accident.
"Our thoughts are with the deceased's family and colleagues. We have informed
the personnel working with the project on site and are giving them the needed

Everyone has the right to a safe work environment. Investigation of the accident
has been started and corrective actions will be implemented to continuously
improve our processes and routines to ensure safety," says Stefan Mattsson from

Valmet has initiated an incident investigation, in co-operation with the
customer and contractor. The incident is also under investigation by the police
and the Swedish Work Environment Authority.
