The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation Partners With Arizona Nonprofit one-n-ten for LGBTQ Youth Camp OUTdoors!
Ninth Annual Event Enriches the Lives of LGBTQ Youth Through Workshops, Guidance and Supportive Activities
(firmenpresse) - PHOENIX, AZ -- (Marketwired) -- 06/07/16 -- On the heels of receiving a $500,000 grant from The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation last fall, today announced The Foundation has generously provided an additional $50,000 to support its ninth annual program. The nonprofit organization serves Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning (LGBTQ) youth, and its Northern Arizona summer camp provides an opportunity for more than 150 campers to increase self-esteem, develop leadership skills and build a strong sense of self and community, all at no cost to local participants. Out-of-state campers pay a small tuition to cover travel, food and lodging. The camp will run during Labor Day weekend, Sept. 2 through 5, and applications are being accepted until June 15.
"Renee and I believe that everyone, especially at-risk youth, deserves a safe place where they can be encouraged and supported for who they are," said entrepreneur and philanthropist Bob Parsons.
Camp OUTdoors! activities vary and evolve each year ranging from educational workshops on topics like LGBTQ History and Non-Violent Communication, to typical summer camp fun with horseback riding and zip-lining.
"It is especially important that LGBTQ youth are given the opportunity to explore and conquer the specific issues they face in their day-to-day lives," added Renee Parsons, co-founder of The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation. "Camp OUTDoors! is providing a fun and supportive environment for these young people to grow and gain confidence."
