Kesko's sales increased in May
Kesko Group's sales in May 2016 totalled ?841.0 million and were up 13.2%. In
comparable terms, sales increased by 5.2% in local currencies, excluding the
impact of Suomen Lähikauppa.
"In May, Kesko's sales increased in all strategic growth areas, i.e. the grocery
trade, the building and home improvement trade and the car trade," says Kesko's
President and CEO Mikko Helander.
The sales of Kesko's grocery trade in May were ?465.6 million and increased by
23.1%. Suomen Lähikauppa excluded, the sales of the grocery trade were ?391.6
million, representing a comparable change of +4.2%. There were two delivery days
more than in the previous year.
The sales of the home improvement and speciality goods trade in May were ?305.9
million, up 6.8% in local currencies. In Finland, sales grew by 4.6%. Outside
Finland, sales increased by 9.1% in local currencies. The sales of the building
and home improvement trade increased by 6.4% in local currencies. The sales of
the leisure trade increased by 12.9% in local currencies and the sales of the
agricultural and machinery trade by 9.0%.
The sales of the car trade in May were ?70.7 million, up 8.2% from the previous
year.

In May 2016, the number of selling days in Kesko's wholesale in Finland was 21,
which was two more than in the previous year. The total number of selling days
in January-May was two more than in the previous year.
