AIDS Services Foundation Orange County Celebrates 25,000 Volunteer Hours With Appreciation Luncheon
(firmenpresse) - IRVINE, CA and SANTA ANA, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 06/20/16 -- In gratitude for the 350 volunteers who donated more than 25,000 hours of service this past year, (ASF) held an appreciation luncheon on June 11 at Las Lomas Community Park in Irvine, Calif.
The large gathering celebrated the valuable volunteer recruitment and assistance, which consisted of:
31 undergraduate interns, who donated a total of 4,581 hours
220 volunteers, who donated 765 hours
volunteers, who donated 8,076 hours
32 gala volunteers, who donated 201 hours
Office assistance volunteers, who donated 2,918 hours
179 volunteers, who donated 550 hours
The dollar value of this assistance -- based on the valuation of $27.59 per hour for volunteer time in California, as established by Independent Sector -- totaled $694,137.00. Additionally, ASF registered 89 newly volunteers this year!
"ASF would not be able to do the work that we do if not for the incredible dedication of our generous volunteers," said Philip Yaeger, ASF CEO and executive director. "Every volunteer, every hour and every dollar that ASF is afforded is well-used and brings us one step closer to ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Orange County. For more than 30 years, ASF has helped more than 8,000 people living with HIV and AIDS in Orange County. The foundation welcomes volunteers from every walk of life to assist in varying capacities, including outreach, administrative assistance, social media promotion and fundraising efforts. From speaking out about HIV/AIDS at schools to increase awareness and education, to hosting a free, rapid 20-minute HIV testing events, ASF seeks to build a stronger community that works in unity to end the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Orange County.
