(Thomson Reuters ONE) - 1. Internal Turret Mooring System for Shell's Floating LNG FacilitySBM Offshore N.V. is pleased to announce the following news:Shell Global Solutions International B.V. and SBM Offshore havesigned a 'Turret Mooring System Framework Arrangement' for a periodof up to fifteen years, for the supply of turret mooring systems forShell's 3.5 million tonne per annum (mtpa) FLNG facilities. The FLNGTurret Mooring System programme will cover the design, procurementand construction of turret mooring systems for successive FLNGapplications.Shell's FLNG facility has the potential to place gas liquefactionfacilities directly over offshore gas fields, thereby precluding theneed for long distance pipelines and extensive onshoreinfrastructures. The FLNG facility will produce liquefied natural gas (LNG) offshoreand will be moored with an internal and permanently connected freelyweathervaning turret mooring system, which fixes the location of thebow within prescribed limits but allows the facility to orient inresponse to the prevailing weather conditions. The turret mooringsystem is a generic design and intended for use in many areas of theworld. The internal turret mooring system is expected to be the largest interms of diameter with capability to handle mooring loads in excessof current systems.Tony Mace, CEO of SBM Offshore, commented, "We are very pleased tohave been awarded this arrangement with Shell to supply the mooringsystems for their FLNG facilities. This technology developmentfollows on from the successful installation of FPSO Espirito Santofor Shell, which accommodates steel catenary risers for the firsttime on an internal turret mooring system on an FPSO. These, alongwith other ground-breaking mooring projects in recent years, clearlyshow that SBM Offshore remains the industry leader in complex mooringsystems."Contact person: Mr. Sebastiaan de Ronde BresserTelephone: (+377) 92 05 85 15Mobile: (+33) 643 919 312Fax: (+377) 92 05 89 40E-mail: sebastiaan.derondebresser(at)sbmoffshore.comWebsite: www.sbmoffshore.comTo see the complete pdf version of this press release, please clickon the link below:http://hugin.info/130754/R/1335450/317393.pdfThis announcement was originally distributed by Hugin.
