TransAtlantic is awarded a long-term contract by ENI Norge

TransAtlantic has been awarded a four year contract by ENI Norway for the ice
strengthened AHTS vessel Njord Viking, which is currently under construction at
the Astilleros Zamakona shipyard in Spain. The Anchor Handling Tug Supply Vessel
(AHTS) will support exploration and development operations in the Barents Sea
including the Goliat field. Commencement of the charter is scheduled for May
2011. The total contract value for the four year contract is about NOK 430 M.
The Njord Viking is part of series of four vessels designed for working in the
harsh environment and the Arctic. It is equipped with a de-icing system that
will prevent icing during the harsh Northern winter seasons. The Njord Viking
complies with the latest oil recovery rules (NOFO 2009). The vessel also has
standby class according to Det Norske Veritas (DNV) rules. The Njord Viking is
equipped with a covered ROV hangar and a ROV launching system. Njord Viking will
be equipped with a 170 BHP work ROV mainly to be used during pre-laying of
mooring systems. The vessel will also perform towing and anchor handling work
during rig moves, standby and supply services to the Mobile Offshore Drilling
Unit Scarabeo 8 when necessary.
The Goliat field is located 52 nm offshore northern Norway and the support base
for the operation will be Hammerfest. The water depth at the Goliat field is
being approximately 370 meters.
