Kesko's sales increased in August
Kesko Group's sales in August 2016 totalled ?984.3 million and were up 33.5%. In
comparable terms, sales increased by 5.8% in local currencies, excluding the
impact of Suomen Lähikauppa and Onninen. There were two selling days more than
in the previous year.
"In August, the strong growth of Kesko's sales continued due to acquisitions.
Comparable sales, too, increased in all divisions," says Kesko's President and
CEO Mikko Helander.
The sales of Kesko's grocery trade in August were ?477.7 million and increased
by 20.6%. Suomen Lähikauppa excluded, the sales of the grocery trade were ?409.2
million, representing a comparable change of 3.2%. There were two more delivery
days than in the previous year.
The sales of the building and technical trade in August were ?446.1 million, up
56.4%. Excluding Onninen, the sales of the building and technical trade were
?307.2 million, up 8.8% in local currencies. In Finland, sales excluding Onninen
were up by 12.5%. Outside Finland, sales excluding Onninen increased by 5.2% in
local currencies. The sales of the building and home improvement trade increased
by 10.1% in local currencies. The sales of the leisure trade increased by 6.3%
in Finland and the sales of the agricultural and machinery trade were up by
9.8%.
The sales of the car trade in August were ?62.3 million, up 13.9% from the
previous year.

In August 2016, the number of selling days in Kesko's wholesale in Finland was
23, which was two more than in the previous year. The total number of selling
days in January-August was two more than in the previous year.
