Most skiers venture from the piste to their Three Valleys chalet and don’t go any further. Break the mould and try something different this year.

1.Take a Mountain Helicopter Ride
Most of the big resorts now have companies offering the unique experience of a helicopter ride over the stunning landscape and mountains of the Vanoise National Park, of which the Three Valleys is part.
2.Glide Down Europe’s Highest Zipwire
Set above the glacier at Val Thorens, the starting point for this zipwire is at a heart-stopping 3,000m. See if you’re brave enough to travel the 1,300m down from the summit at speeds which can reach a staggering 100kph...
3.Travel With Your Own Team of Huskies
Husky sledging is a great experience if you want to get out in the open air and try something new. You’ll be given all the training you need before being put in charge of your own team of mountain dogs.
4.Savour Michelin-Starred Cuisine at La Bouitte
Recently awarded its third Michelin star, La Bouitte in St Martin specialises in local Savoie cuisine. Some of the ingredients are even foraged for on the local mountainsides!
5.Take the Sledge Run at Les Menuires
Big kids and little ones alike enjoy the thrill of Les Menuires’ Roc n’ Bob sledge run every year. Rent a sledge at the bottom of the Roc des 3 Marches 1 and take the lift to the top of this fast-paced run.
6.Try Skiing at Night
Visit Courchevel’s Verdons piste and family park for a night ski from 6-8pm every Wednesday night. If you leave your Three Valleys chalet as the sun goes down, you can take the lift up to Verdons. The crowds will be gone, the stars will be out and you’ll experience skiing in a whole new way.
7.Get Wet at Aquamotion
Whether you’re looking for the thrills of a water park with slides, rides and plenty of fun or more sedate water-based spa treatments, the new Aquamotion complex in Courchevel has it all. You can have a massage or a Turkish bath, learn to surf or ride the 45-meter water slide. Perfect for days when you don’t want to ski!
8.Take a Jump on a BigAir Bag
Those with nerves of steel might like to try one of the Three Valleys’ BigAir jumps. Speed downhill as fast as you can, take off on the snow jump and have your fall (or should that be landing?) cushioned for you by a massive air cushion. All the fun of jumping without the risks of a hard landing.
9.Watch the Sunrise From the Top of the Mountain
Start the day by watching the sun come up over the mountains from the top of Saulire, above Courchevel and Méribel. Special tours will arrange to take you up to the peak before the lifts officially open so that you can see this very special, breath-taking sight. A once in a lifetime experience, never to be forgotten.
10.Get In With the In-Crowd at La Folie Douce
Definitely worth the trip over to Méribel if you enjoy a bit of fast paced après-ski. La Folie Douce, on the mountainside above the resort, offers DJs, dancing, food and lots of very cool music to please its ultra-hip crowd. Stop off for a hot chocolate or a cocktail and drink in the party vibe – a marvellous way to end the day!
