Stonesoft Positioned in the Network Intrusion Prevention System Magic Quadrant

(Thomson Reuters ONE) -

Helsinki, Finland - 15 December 2010- Stonesoft, an innovative provider of
integrated network security and business continuity solutions, today announced
that Gartner, Inc. has positioned it in the Niche Players quadrant in the
Network Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) Magic Quadrant based on evaluation of
its StoneGate IPS. Gartner evaluates vendors based on their ability to execute
and the completeness of their vision.

"We are pleased to be recognized in Gartner's Network IPS Magic Quadrant," said
Ari Vänttinen, vice president of marketing at Stonesoft. "We believe it echoes
what we hear from our customers - that our commitment to research and
development, as well as customer service, has delivered a powerful IPS solution
that meets the highest security demands and removes the complexity of managing
the network security."

StoneGate IPS appliances are available for both physical and virtual
environments and protect vulnerable applications and operating systems from the
most sophisticated threats without impacting network speeds and performance.
StoneGate IPS appliances include built-in high availability technologies,
transparent (layer-2) firewall capabilities, and SSL inspection for both client-
and server-side protection. In addition, the StoneGate IPS is one of the few
production-ready IPS available to receive the distinguished ICSA Labs' Network
IPS certification.

The family of StoneGate IPS appliances are also the only anti-evasion ready
devices on the market today. Because the StoneGate IPS device is centrally
managed and built upon a software-based architecture, the device can be easily
and quickly updated to protect against advanced evasion techniques (AETs). AETs
are a new category of network evasion techniques that allow payloads to be
delivered across the network without being detected by traditional IPS

solutions. While there is not a current solution available to protect against
the infinite possibilities of AETs, Stonesoft research in the area has enabled
it to quickly update its IPS technology against all known threats as they are
discovered.

Gartner evaluates vendors annually based on the following evaluation criteria:
ability to execute, which includes product or service, overall viability, sales
execution/pricing, market responsiveness and track record, market execution and
customer experience and operations; and completeness of vision, comprising of
market understanding and strategy, sales strategy, offering strategy, business
model, vertical, industry and geographic strategy and innovation.
