Share capital increase registered with the trade register

Biotie's share capital increase of EUR 500,000 pursuant to the offer of treasury
shares announced on 8 December  2010 has been registered with the trade register
on 12 January 2011 following the notification received today. Following the
registration, the share capital of Biotie is EUR 52,556,678.10.

Biotie now has 161,256,847 shares outstanding and holds additional 14,747,084
treasury shares after the transfer.
