(firmenpresse) - KEARNY, NJ -- (Marketwired) -- 11/23/16 -- Cranberries make a festive appearance at Thanksgiving reminding us all of this powerful super fruit, but based on recent headlines, is it time to throw the cranberries out with the turkey legs? Taking a closer look at one of the most researched concentrated cranberry ingredient in the world, Cran-Max, provides hope and assurance to suffers of chronic urinary tract infections (UTIs).

"For centuries, certain remedies have been passed down from generation to generation to heal common health maladies and promote youthfulness and vitality," said Sherry Torkos, holistic pharmacist and author of more than a dozen books on natural health and healing. "Modern medicine constantly attempts to artificially replicate what nature has proven to do flawlessly when it comes to natural health and healing. This dichotomy can lend itself to a public debate about the right course of medical action, but cutting-edge science is caching up to validate that many of these age-old remedies are quite effective."

Cran-Max, a concentrated cranberry-based ingredient used in a variety of UTI support supplements, has six clinical studies to its credit showing its ability to change the bacterial structure and prevent the adhesion to the walls of the bladder or urinary tract. A peer-reviewed study published in the Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy compared the effects of a commonly prescribed antibiotic to Cran-Max in women with reoccurring UTIs and found that Cran-Max was comparable to an antibiotic for UTI prevention. The study showed that taking one, 500-milligram dose of Cran-Max, starts working immediately on UTIs, in contrast to other cranberry supplements that need to be taken for longer periods of time before seeing a response.

"These substantial scientific studies shed light on misinformation being disseminated, and brings evidence to support the use of branded cranberry ingredients for UTI prevention," said Torkos. "Cran-Max has a proven track record with strong science demonstrating efficacy."

If left untreated, UTIs can lead to kidney infections or worse. Before the dawn of antibiotics, power-packed cranberries were traditionally consumed to prevent bladder bacteria problems, however today's commercialized cranberry juice is far less astringent and loaded with sugar resulting in little or no result. Torkos says cranberry supplements are still an effective option for UTI sufferers and choosing supplements with clinically studied cranberry ingredients like Cran-Max can make a difference.

"While there are limitations to recent publicized studies and confounding factors that may explain the poor response rate with certain cranberry supplements, there is also a wide variance in cranberry supplements and beverages," said Torkos. "All is not all equal, hence the mixed results, so it's important to check labels and look for supplements with ingredients that have been studied to back up claims."

Cran-Max is one of the most widely researched cranberry ingredient in the world and unique from substandard cranberry supplements in its delivery system, which is why in one published clinical trial, it proved to be just as effective as trimethoprim, the premier antibiotic prescribed for UTIs, to lessen symptoms as well as decrease UTI incidence.
