(firmenpresse) - A fire reported in Urbana, Ohio has drawn national attention. 4 were hospitalized, saved from possible death by a smoke detector. But the mobile home involved in the blaze was overshadowed by a steady plume of smoke.

The charred remains of the home provided mute testimony to a family’s tragedy.

But what the story surprisingly highlighted was the difference between a pre-HUD Code mobile home, and a modern manufactured home

“This fire involved a true mobile home and was not a manufactured home,” Chief Mark Keller told ManufacturedHomeLivingNews.

“The fact is that today’s federally regulated manufactured homes are as safe or safer than other types of homes when it comes to fire, as shown by research done by the National Fire Protection Association on multiple fire safety metrics,” said M. Mark Weiss, JD, President and CEO of the Manufactured Housing Association for Regulatory Reform (MHARR).

Fire safety tips, along with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) report - comparing safety results for mobile homes, manufactured homes, and conventional housing -plus discussions of proper terminology, are all part of the report by RC Williams.
